Industry Experience
Team Training
In combination with my clinical practice I perform team training with local sports teams such as: North Island Silvertips, Sr B Timberman, Nanaimo Minor Hockey U13 & U15.
Along with team training I also provide small group training sessions to youth athletes who are looking to excel in their sport.
My lessons feature fundamental lifting techniques with 5 main lifts: bench press, squat, deadlift, pull up, and split squat. I also teach olympic lifting along with kettlebell complex's, plyometrics, and hypertrophy progressions. These sessions are conducted with specific age and skill level progressions with special consideration for the Youth Athletic Development Model.

Healthy Aging
My interest in healthy aging began in my Kinesiology degree at VIU. I spent extra time on this valuable course and created a workout plan for my grandparents to follow. Since then, I created a healthy aging program at our clinic. We have weekly sessions which focus on 5 main elements: Cardiovascular health, Strength and balance, Mobility and Flexibility, Independence, and Education.
The seniors enjoy these sessions and the social aspect of the group setting. We also incorporate proprioceptive games to ensure we have fun.

Work Experience
Working at Long Lake Physiotherapy has been an incredible experience. I've had the opportunity to explore the industry extensively. I have shadowed both the Physiotherapists and Kinesiologists and applied many of their skills and techniques to my own practice. Working as a Kinesiologist has affirmed my passion for this industry and gave me a great foundation.

I've had the pleasure of a mentorship from Kyla Hartnell, who is the well-established owner of the clinic. Kyla challenges me with tough scenarios and questions while we are working together will clients. She has developed an intelligent team which I am proud to be a part of.
As a laser technician, I treat a diverse range of patients. Injuries range from small muscular skeletal tears to major dislocations. Working here has enhanced my professional language and communication with clients and clinicians. I've became proficient in administering and educating clients on laser therapy resulting in optimal recovery. This is additional information on laser therapy provided by the clinic.

Working under Jake Lussier has been a great experience.. Jake is a great physiotherapist and an even greater owner. He creates a great learning environment welcoming in potential employees such as myself. He's mastered the blend of fun and professionalism in his clinic, and the clients notice. He has taught me valuable communication and professionalism skills while emphasizing a fun work environment.
As the North Island Silvertips head trainer/athletic therapist I've had the opportunity to apply many aspects of my academia. I regularly have to assess muscular skeletal injuries and provide an intervention. On multiple occasions I have had to diagnose a concussion and progress athletes through a return to sport protocol. I also perform tape jobs on shoulders, ankles, wrists, and knees regularly. With the knowledge from my Kinesiology degree I am able to provide great care to the athletes. This opportunity is a great synthesis of my love for sport and Kinesiology.

The general manager, Lance Vallancourt, offered me the position with the help of VIU. Lance chose me to step up and manage the U18 team. It has been a great experience so far, and I am grateful Lance saw my potential.
